Youri Tielemans continues to be linked with an Old Trafford move.
Manchester United’s squad is looking far healthier than it did this time last summer. Credit has to go to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Manchester United board for that.
However, there is still work ahead for the Baby Faced Assassin. It can be argued that the need to sign a top-class box-to-box midfielder still remains. Enter, Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian has been rumoured to be a United target before, while here we are again. It comes from Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking about Tielemans on his YouTube channel. Thanks to the Leicester Mercury for the transcription.
“In England many clubs are interested. Manchester United have to decide on Paul Pogba but Tielemans is one to watch for the future for Manchester United.“ – Fabrizio Romano.
So the classy 24-year-old has been deemed ‘one to watch’ for United, as the Reds remain intent on signing a midfielder – but only if Paul Pogba leaves…
As we all know, the Frenchman’s future remains up in the air at Old Trafford. He’s entered into the final year of his contract and as things stand, Pogba would be free to talk to overseas clubs from January onwards, about signing a pre-contract that’d start from next summer.
If Pogba does depart, United could do worse than Tielemans as a replacement. He’s played in the Premier League at an incredibly-high level, while the Belgian always steps up when his teammates need him the most.
Tielemans would offer this United side a different dimension which is never a bad thing. The problem could be convincing Leicester into selling – just cast your mind back as to how Howard it was to prise Harry Maguire away from the King Power Stadium.
In an ideal world, Pogba stays and Tielemans is also signed – with the latter potentially replacing an ageing Nemanja Matic. I doubt it’ll play out that way, however…
