The 20-year old Crystal Palace man has agreed a five and a half year contract with Manchester United, that will keep him at the club until 2018, the deal includes an immediate loan return for the winger, and he’ll link up with his new Manchester United teammates in the summer.
Wilfried will undergo his medical at the Bridgewater Hospital today, ahead of what is rumoured to be a £15million move, with £10million of that being paid up front.
The loan move back to Palace is certainly a good idea and the deal is not too dissimilar to that of Chris Smalling’s back in 2010. It’d be tough to bring the young man in now, as he’s never played a single minute of Premier League football in his life. Plus bringing him in over the summer means he has all pre-season to adapt to the ‘United way’.
Upon completing the move, Zaha said. “I am delighted to be joining Man Utd. I would like to thank the owners at Palace for making the move possible.” He added. “My focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace.”
Sir Alex had this to say. “We like to sign players with potential. We develop players & that’s been proven many times. Hopefully the boy enjoys it here.”
