Ah, the old Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United rumours are back…
Yes, just a year or so on from constantly being linked to the recent World Cup winner, the Red Devils are now rumoured to be back in for the Atletico Madrid man.
The report comes from AS, per the Manchester Evening News, with the Spanish media outlet claiming that Zinedine Zidane would target a move for his countryman if he is named United manager.
Apparently, Zizou wants Greizmann to be his ‘star’ at Old Trafford – although it is thought he’d cost around €200million to tempt Atleti into selling.
It would be a stunning signing, make no mistake about it. Griezmann is up there amongst the best players on the planet. He’d bring another dimension to our attack.
You would assume that it’d likely spell the end of Anthony Martial’s already thin Manchester United career – unless Zizou plans to move one of Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez or Romelu Lukaku out the exit door – which looks highly unlikely at this point.
I still stand by my thought that bringing in Zidane would be a risk. He worked wonders at Real Madrid, but at United, it’s a whole different kettle of fish and the squad is nowhere near as strong. It would be intriguing to see how it would play out, though…
