Manchester United are clearly trying to make a statement of intent at the start of this transfer window, after firing Louis van Gaal and moving in for Jose Mourinho. Reports have suggested that the Swedish captain will be the self-proclaimed Special One’s first signing at the club.
Now The Sun have taken that one step further, and they reckon that the 34-year old forward has already been handed his shirt number – the legendary #9 jersey.
Plenty of top class strikers have worn that famous number, including both Andy Cole and Sir Bobby Charlton. So no pressure, Zlatan.
At this point in time Anthony Martial is the proud owner of the #9 shirt, but SunSport add that the Frenchman will move to the #7, with Memphis Depay’s Manchester United future in doubt.
There is no reason as to why Zlatan Ibrahimovic cannot be the modern day Eric Cantona for Manchester United, and be that real figurehead for Jose Mourinho’s new-look side.
