Zlatan Ibrahimovic has this brilliant response to Eric Cantona’s comment

Manchester United made arguably the shock signing of the transfer window so far just a week or so ago, when Jose Mourinho decided to spend big on bringing in 34-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The influential Swede signed on a one-year deal.

Shortly after the deal was done, none other than ‘King’ Eric Cantona had a message for the former PSG striker, who claimed he left the French capital like a king himself.

“I have a personal message to Zlatan,” Cantona said. “You have decided for United and it is the best choice you’ve ever made. But one last thing, there can be only one king in Manchester.

“You can become a prince if you want and jersey number 7 is yours if you are interested,” he added. “It is my welcome gift to you. The king is gone. Long live the prince.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic responded:

“I heard what he [Cantona] said and I congratulate him because I have always admired him,” he said. “But he should know that I won’t be king of Manchester. I will be God of Manchester.”

This is just brilliant between the two of them. It’s clear that a mutual respect is there, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of harmless fun between a pair of players who, at the top of their game, have been outstanding.

At the end of the day, it’s now up to Zlatan Ibrahimovic to prove his worth on the pitch now. He clearly has all of the talents and capabilities to succeed here, and if he hits the ground running, it could be a colossal season for the Swede.
