Zlatan Ibrahimovic to land huge bonus if Man United win Champions League

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could land a huge £2million personal bonus if Manchester United win the Champions League, according to The Sun.

The 36-year-old, who signed a contract extension in the summer, hasn’t played since re-aggravating a knee injury on Boxing Day. Although he took a huge pay-cut to remain at Old Trafford for a further twelve months, his new contract includes some hefty trophy-based financial incentives.

United are currently in the last sixteen of European football’s premier competition, as their tie against Sevilla remains finely balanced at 0-0 following the first leg.

However, Ibrahimovic hasn’t kicked a ball in continental competition this term, and I find it remarkable that if the Red Devils were to go on to win the tournament, the former PSG man would significantly boost his bank account without having any meaningful impact.

We have to respect just how brilliant Ibrahimovic was for us during his debut season, but this year has certainly been one to forget for the veteran. I get the impression that he feels his footballing future lies elsewhere, and we’ll seemingly be waving goodbye to the forward when this season comes to an end.
