Manchester United Football Club lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic just last week, with the striker heading to the MLS to play for the LA Galaxy.
Now, his surgeon, via The Sun, has revealed why the veteran forward left Old Trafford before the end of his contract (which was due to expire in the summer).
The report is claiming that Ibrahimovic didn’t leave Manchester United due to injury, but instead because they were dumped out of the Champions League prematurely…
Honestly, if this is true then this just sums up Zlatan. He’s a player who’s always been full of himself, and that’s never going to change. But to leave the club after they’ve been knocked out of a tournament that he didn’t feature in is rich, even by his standards.
With that said, I guess the reason the club agreed to it was to get his huge wages off the bill. He’s barely played this term, and although it’s sad that it didn’t work out, it makes perfect sense to let him go from a business standpoint.
I’m sure he’ll work wonders in America, and I wish him all the best, but it seems like a bit of a cop-out in my opinion.
