Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to miss Man United game with muscular injury: report

Manchester United Football Club have been given an injury slice of fortune ahead of their two-legged tie against AC Milan.

At this point, it can be argued the Europa League is Manchester United’s best chance at trophy success. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned this side into a better one, though we’re still a season away from contending for Premier League crowns.

For now, we have to take our chances in cup competitions. Although our Europa League draw could have certainly been easier, you’d think that over two legs we’d have enough quality to beat AC Milan.

Ahead of the game, the pendulum has further swung in the Red Devils’ favour, with United given an injury lift, as 16-goal AC Milan star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is set to miss the first game of our Europa League meeting with an injury.

The news comes from journalist Francesco Porzio, who confirmed that ex-Red Ibrahimovic has a muscular injury. Sadly, the iconic Swede will not be returning to Old Trafford on March 11th.

At this stage, it’s unclear as to whether Ibrahimovic will be ready to play in the return leg on March 18th.

I’m relieved but sad. Seeing Zlatan back at Old Trafford would have been pretty special, albeit without fans in the stadium. However, the thought of Ibra going against Victor Lindelof absolutely gives me shivers.

First and foremost, I want United to succeed. If that means we don’t get to see Ibrahimovic, then so be it. With a place in the quarter-final of a major European competition at stake, I’d much rather see our hat in the next round rather than Ibra back at the Theatre of Dreams.

That said, this will still be a two-legged tie where United will have to be at their best. There is no room for sloppy mistakes, nor is there any time to start slowly and give away yet another early, cheap goal.

Hopefully, Ole has these lads ready. As for Zlatan, I hope he gets well soon!
